To switch your old post editor to updated post editor, please follow these steps: Login ? dashboard ? Settings ? Basic, at the bottom of the page, there is an option to Select post editor.

Where can we choose one of the two post editors? The answer is in the Setting menu under Basic sub menu. Scroll down until the bottom of the page, so you will find the options, as we have discussed at How to set up blog in blogger. The steps to the options: Login → dashboard → Settings → Basic, on the bottom of page, Select post editor.

To see how each post editor is like, just click Posting tab:

In the post editors, there is a toolbar to make you easy in writing an article to publish. Notice below image ( Click on the image to view larger image )

The following are explanations of the tools in the post editors based on the numbers like in the image:

1. Title : This field is to type the title of article you are going to write.

Basic

Some settings in Basic menu:

• Blog Tools: Import blog ⇒ This is a facility to import data from your computer (usually done when transferring blog). Do not click it, let it as it is. Export blog ⇒ this is a facility to export blog to the computer. This facility is also called as Blog Backup. You are suggested to have Blog Backup in your hard drive at least once a week. The Blog Backup data will be very useful when you want to transfer it to other blog in Blogger, or you also can use it when you want to migrate to other blog machines such as WordPress. Delete blog ⇒ It is the facility to delete your blog. If you do not want to delete your blog, do not ever click this link.
• Title: Fill out with the title of your blog, e.g. My personal blog
• Description: Fill out with blog description that you ant to display. You are suggested to fill out this field, do not let it blank, e.g. “My uniquely little note”.
• Add your blog to our listings? : You are suggested to select Yes.
• Let search engines find your blog?  : Select Yes, so your blog can be indexed by Google.
• Show Email Post links? : This is an email icon. If you want your visitors to be able to directly send email to their friends letting know about your blog, you should select Yes, otherwise, select No.
• Adult Content? : If you are creating a blog with adult contents including articles, images, pictures, videos, sexy girls’ pictures, and anything else related to adult contents, you should select Yes. But if your blog contains anything safe for children, you should select No. If you select Yes, please note that there will be warning about adult content when your blog is accessed.
• Select post editor: There are some options for post editor. Updated editor ⇒ this is the newest post editor in blogger. There are many new facilities integrated to this newest post editor such as More button to cut off your articles. Old editor ⇒ This is the old post editor in blogger but you can still use it, thereby you are given the option. Besides, there are some toolbars in the old post editor that are not included to the newest post editor. Now, it’s up to you which one you want to use, either old post editor or new post editor. Hide compose mode ⇒ This is for advanced bloggers that are familiar with HTML coding. Do not use this post editor if you are not familiar with the HTML coding.
•  Enable transliteration? : Select Enable if you want the post editor supporting translation to Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, or Telugu. Select Disable if you want otherwise.
• End Basic menu setting by clicking SAVE SETTINGS.

Publishing

This is a facility to change your domain name in blogger into your own domain, e.g. http://yourblogname.blogspot.com into http://yourdomainname.com.

For temporary, you do not have to do anything to the publishing menu because it will be discussed in the next post about Tutorial about custom domain in blogger.

Formatting

Some settings in Formatting menu :

• Show at most: Type the number of post you want to display in the home or front page of your blog, e.g. type “5”. There is dropdown menu next to the field containing two options, i.e. posts and days. You are suggested to select posts.
• Date Header Format : Select the date format you want it appear.
• Archive Index Date Format : Select the format of archive links to display in your sidebar.
• Timestamp Format: Select the time format you want it appear when you publish an article because this time format will be recorded every time you publish posts in your blog.
• Time Zone: Just select the time zone where you are in.
• Language: Select the language you use in your blog.
• Convert line breaks: This is the automatic line breaker when you enter for a new line. If you will not publish the posts about HTML etc in the future, select No because the HTML codes, PHP, and the like will not be displayed as they are, when you select Yes.
• Show Title Field: It does not matter to choose “Yes” or “No”.
• Show Link Fields: It does not matter to choose “No” or “Yes”.
• Enable Float Alignment: Select “Yes”, this is to make the position of images or pictures in your posts easy to arrange. But if this choice bothers the display of your blog, select “No”.
•  Post Template: This is a template of post that will always appear automatically in all posts you publish. It’s usually used for blog signature, either texts or codes.
• End your Formatting menu setting by clicking SAVE SETTINGS.

Comments

Some setting in the Comments menu :

• Comments: Select “Show” if you want every of your article to be commented by your visitors and readers because this will make the comment box visible. Select “Hide” if otherwise.
• Who Can Comment? : Anyone – includes Anonymous Users ⇒ Enabling this option will make everyone including Anonymous Users can comment. Registered Users – includes OpenID ⇒ Only those who are registered can comment, i.e. those who have accounts in Google, Live Journal, WordPress, Type pad, AIM, and/or OpenID. Users with Google Accounts ⇒ Only users with Google accounts can comment. Only members of this blog ⇒ Only the members of your blog can comment. It’s usually used if your blog is for certain community such as education, and so on.
• Comment Form Placement: Full page  ⇒ Your blog page will disappear as replaced by the comment page when your visitors or readers click the comment link to give comments. Pop-up window ⇒ The comment box will be displayed in a new window when the comment link is clicked. Embedded below post ⇒ Without a click, your comment box will be displayed under post. This is every blogger’s favorite comment box format.
•  Comments Default for Posts: select New Post have Comments if you want every post you publish has the comment box, but you can disable the comment box for a post you are going to publish. Select New Post Do Not Have Comments if you want every post you publish does not have the comment box, but you can enable it for a post you are going to publish.
•  Backlinks: Select Show if you want to display the web pages that link to your posts. Select Hide if you do not want to display the web pages that link to your posts.
• Backlinks Default for Posts: Select New Post have backlinks if you want every post you publish has Backlinks. Select New Post Do not Have backlinks if you want every post you publish does not have Backlinks.
• Comments Timestamp Format: Select the format of comment date.
• Comment Form Message: Type your messages that will be displayed above the comment box, e.g. Please comment but keep your comments polite without spam comments.
• Comment moderation: Select “Always” if you need to moderate any comment before the comment shows up. Select “Only on post older than” if you want to moderate any comment before the comment displayed, but you filter the comments from its age, as you may choose within days such as 14 days, etc. Select “Never” if you do not want to moderate for every comment written and posted by visitors or readers. Then there is a field to type your email address where you can type it if you want to get automatic notification through the email address for every comment written and posted, or let it blank if you do not need the notification.
  
• Show word verification for comments? : Select Yes if you want to display the verification words where you require the visitors or your readers to do this step before their comments are posted. It is very good to reduce the spam comments or script robot spam that may come into your blog. Anyway, enabling this feature can cause your visitors or readers dislike to comment. Select No if you do not want to include the verification words in your comment box. Although this choice makes your blog vulnerable to script robot spam, but visitors or readers would love it.
• Show profile images on comments? : Select Yes if you want to display the images of commentators’ profiles, or select No if otherwise.
• Comment Notification Email: here, you can write email addresses of your own or your friends that you want the comment notification sent to the emails, at every comment written and posted.  You can write up to ten emails.
• End Comments menu setting by clicking SAVE SETTINGS.

Archiving

Some settings in Archiving menu :

• Archive Frequency: select how you want the archives of your posts be displayed whether No archive, Daily, Weekly, or Monthly. You are suggested to select “Monthly”.
•  Enable Post Pages? Select Yes or No.
• End Archiving menu setting by clicking SAVE SETTINGS.

Email & Mobile

To post an article to your blog, you have not only blogger post editor, but you also can use email and mobile phone. Some settings in Email & Mobile menu,

BlogSend Address (Email Notifications) : write up to ten emails into where you want your blog mailed. Use comma (,) to separate lists of emails.

Email Posting Address (Posting Options) : here you are required to create a blogger email to post an article where you write it in an email or mobile and then you send to this blogger email. Just type the unique email address by completing the empty field available with your own and secret word. For example, if you have an email as example@gmail.com, so you can have blogger email as example.post@blogger.com or example.blog@blogger.com or anything else. Remember that you have to keep it secret to avoid unwanted articles posted to your blog from other people.

To activate this feature, you have to select Publish emails immediately, meaning that if you send email to the above address, it will be immediately posted. If you select Save emails as draft post, the email you send will not be posted immediately but saved as draft posts. However, if you do not want to publish through email, select Disable. This option is most selected for security reason. Do not forget to end the Email ⇒ Mobile menu setting by clicking SAVE SETTINGS.

OpenID

Nothing to set up here except the notification that your blog address can be used as OpenID. What is OpenID? Let’s schedule it for the next post.

Permissions

At this menu, you can add the authors by inviting them. Type their emails of the people you invite as authors of your blog. At “Who can view this blog?, you can select anyone that can access your blog. Anybody means that your blog is for public or can be accessed by anybody, Only People I choose is only invited people that can access your blog, where they are required to log in first. Only blog authors means only the authors that can access your blog.
